1. Jesus' Anointing came because He Prayed! (Luke
3:2) When all the people were baptized, it came to pass that
Jesus also was baptized; and while He prayed the heaven opened.
Phil. 1:19 For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance
through your prayer and the supply (anointing) of the Spirit
of Jesus Christ. Jesus knew He was entering into His public
ministry; thus He sought the Power that would enable Him to
do his Father's will! After His 40 day fast and conquering
and defeating Satan in his attempt to conquering and defeating
Jesus observe Jesus.
Luke 4:14 Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee
and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region.
Question: Would Jesus had been clothed with the power of the Holy
Spirit if He had not prayed while being baptized? Would He have
defeated Satan during His 40 days of testing against the forces of
the devil if He had not first prayed. Lastly, would He have been
able to go to Galilee in the witness of holy power if He had not
first prayed.
Church, we need to learn this spiritual truth! There is no power
to do the work of God without much prayer! Without prayer we don't
learn; we become simply lean!
2. Jesus prayed Before Daylight! (Mark 1:36) Now in the morning,
having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed
to a solitary place; and there He prayed.
Jesus was not lazy; and He watched the stewardship of His time.
Before facing the responsibilities of the Father's work, He sought
the strength and power, and the Holy Spirit for the day.
Question: What do we cast our eyes and mind on the first thing of
each new day? Jesus began the day with a conversation with His Father!
3. Jesus also prayed Often! (Luke 5:16) So He Himself often withdrew
into the wilderness and prayed.
As important as it was to heal, preach, and declare His identity,
Jesus made time for Prayer! He knew that prayer was what enabled
Him to posses the power to do the work of His Father, not simply
the work itself.
4. Jesus never became so Busy in the work that He was Robbed of His
Prayer time. (Matt. 14:23) And when He had sent the multitudes away,
He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came,
He was alone there.
5. (Matthew 14:23; Mark 6:46) alert us to the fact that Jesus also
prayed Evenings. The church needs a spiritual awakening as to its
source of spiritual power. And the work of the Lord is spiritual
and comes to us from the Holy Spirit who is our source of power
through Prayer!
6. Jesus did not Rush His Prayer Time with His Father. (Luke 11:1) Now
it came to pass as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased
(key word), that one of His disciples said to Him, 'teach us to pray
as John also taught his disciples.'
7. Jesus prayed when faced with Major Decisions. (Luke 6:12) Now it
came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray,
and continued all night in prayer to God.
8. Jesus Encouraged His apostles to continue in prayer. (Luke 18:1)
then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and
not lose heart.
9. Jesus is now entering into the prayer of Intercession for us.
(Heb. 7:25) therefore he is also able to save to the uttermost those
who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make
intercession for them.
